LAQ Uniform Policy
Granite Belt Little Athletics Centre Uniform is not compulsory at meets on Saturday afternoons, however is compulsory when representing Granite Belt Little Athletics at any carnivals. The uniform comprises of:
Granite Belt Little Athletics Polo Shirt – available to purchase from the Centre
NEW – Granite Belt Little Athletics Singlet – available to purchase from the Centre
Black shorts or bike pants – must not cover the knee (purchased at your preferred supplier). It is also important to note, these shorts CANNOT have any markings, stripes, advertising or logos visible if planning to compete at Regional Carnivals. To be clear, they must be TOTALLY black.
Children and parents are strongly encouraged to wear hats and sunscreen to all Little Athletics events and to bring along a water bottle to aid hydration.
To order a Centre shirt or singlet, please contact one of our Committee members. Bulk orders will be placed during the Spring school holiday break. Another bulk order will be placed before Christmas break.
Shirts / Singlet – $35 each – payment at time of ordering
Positioning of Labels & Patches on shirts
Registration numbers should be attached to the front of the polo shirt. Most people sew these numbers on as they are required for the entire season both at club level and at any carnivals. Each athlete will also be given an age label pocket and these should be sewn on the left hand sleeve.
Little Athletics Queensland requires all athletes to wear the provided registration number and age label at all times (eg: at Centre, Region and State competitions).
Footwear policy
At weekly Centre meets and all LAQ Competitions, shoes are compulsory for all events regardless of the track surface.
Spike Shoes
Spike shoes may NOT be worn by :
- athlete’s in the Under 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 age groups,
- competitors in any event with a pack start (eg distance events)
- competitors in track relays
- Under 11 athletes competing in Javelin or High Jump
Spike shoes can be worn by :
Spike shoes may only be worn IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO THE EVENT and DURING THE EVENT. They MUST be removed IMMEDIATELY after the event is finished. It is NOT PERMITTED to wear spike shoes at any other time.
- Competitors in the U11+ age group may wear spike shoes in events run entirely in lanes, long jump, triple jump and javelin
Spike shoes should be carried in a suitable bag at all times and stored safely when not in use.
Parents are requested to ensure that your children are aware of the serious injury that may be caused to other people from wearing spiked shoes. Your assistance in preventing such injuries is appreciated.
As a general rule, competitors at Granite Belt Little Athletes are not accustomed to wearing spikes. It is not necessary for athletes to wear spikes at any events, however suitable footwear is compulsory.
